Variants

Added

Path was not present in the old tree, present in the new.

Removed

Path was present in the old tree, absent in the new.

Modified

Same path, different content hash (and possibly different mode).

ModeChanged

Same path, same content hash, different EntryMode.

Renamed

Content moved from DiffEntry::old_path to DiffEntry::path. Only produced by detect_exact_renames; an exact rename pairs a removed object id with an identical added object id, so the content is byte-identical (git’s similarity index 100%).
