An “unsealed” world state of the Mel blockchain.

We intentionally do not expose the internal details of the state from this type. Instead, use the SealedState type, which can be constructed from a [State] through [State::seal], which represents a “sealed” state at a definite block height that can be queried for sparse Merkle trees and such.

Applies a single transaction. Internally, this calls apply_tx_batch on a slice with a length of 1.

pub fn apply_tx_batch(&mut self, txx: &[Transaction]) -> Result<(), StateError>

Applies a whole lot of transactions. At a high level, this does the following:

  • Loads the relevant coins from the transaction inputs and outputs
  • Validates the transactions against the given coins and stakes
  • Validates any DOSC mint transactions
  • Applies any new stakes
  • Creates a new state from the incoming transactions

pub fn seal(self, action: Option<ProposerAction>) -> SealedState<C>

Finalizes a state into a block, consuming the state. Transactions stored in the State are processed. This also applies the given ProposerAction and creates the new SealedState.

NOTE: Calling this means that no more transactions can be applied to this state at the current BlockHeight.
