A room’s unread_notifications block (research doc §1.4, server plan §3.5). highlight_count is server-computed and, per the server plan, this server always reports 0 for it (no push-rule engine in v1) — this type only models the wire shape, it does not assume either field’s value.

Fields

notification_count: u64

Events since the caller’s own read receipt, excluding their own.

highlight_count: u64

The subset of notification_count that would trigger a highlight. Always <= notification_count.
