Read-write sub-mode controlling how updates are applied.
Variants§
AppendOnly
Append-only: files can be added but never modified or deleted. No history tracking needed. Best for archival, data lakes.
UpdateInPlace
Update-in-place: files can be modified and deleted. Old versions are kept as history entries. Best for dev directories, config mgmt.
CopyOnWrite
Copy-on-write: modifications create new drops; old drops are unreferenced and reclaimed during turnover. Best for container layers, VM disk images.
