A field type a module contributes, so a form can offer an input the framework has no built-in for (a colour picker, a money amount, a map point).

The key is the type’s own FieldType::view_key, so a registration cannot disagree with the type it registers. Use a dotted vendor.name to stay clear of the built-ins and of other modules.
