Index the JSON value at the root-level field name. The index key and the JSON path are the same in the common case, so field("customer") expands to “extract /customer from the payload and store it under the index key customer”. For nested or renamed extraction use field_at.

Index the JSON value at pointer (RFC-6901) under the index key name. Use when the index column name differs from the payload field, or when the value lives in a nested structure - field_at("amount_cents", "/amount/value") indexes amount.value as amount_cents.
