A message delivered to a handler: decoded provenance, raw payload, and log position.

Fields

provenance: Provenance

Provenance headers decoded off the message. For an AGDX message it is synthesized from the decoded envelope, so routing, dedup, and deadline work uniformly for both message shapes.

payload: Vec<u8>

The raw message body. Owned Vec<u8> so the public API never leaks the bytes crate. Decode it with whatever codec the producer used.

id: MessageId

Where the message sits on the log (partition and offset).

envelope: Option<AgentEnvelope>

The decoded AGDX envelope when the message carries one (the agdx.av header is present). None for a plain send_agent message.

content_type: Option<ContentType>

The agdx.ct content-type header when stamped (what the body bytes are), None when the producer stamped none. ContentType::Ref marks a claim-checked body, resolved with resolve_body.

verified_principal: Option<String>

The principal returned by enrolled signature verification. Set on contract replies accepted through a verifier, otherwise None.

The task body, regardless of message shape: the AGDX envelope’s body when the message is an AGDX command/response (its payload is the encoded envelope, not the body), otherwise the raw payload. A handler uses this so it does not have to know whether it was reached by a contract or workflow (AGDX) or a plain send_agent.

The real body of a claim-checked message. It starts from body: the AGDX envelope’s body for an AGDX record, the payload otherwise. When the content type is ref, that body is the capsule, which is decoded, fetched, and digest-verified through resolve_body. Any other content type returns the body as-is. The consume-side pairing of the publish builder’s claim_check.
