Per-pack backend assignment.

Corresponds to a [packs.<pack-name>] entry in khive.toml. Packs whose name is absent from [packs] fall back to the main backend.

Fields

backend: String

Backend name this pack is assigned to. Must match a [[backends]].name, or main when no backends are declared.

no_embed: bool

Disable vector embedding for this pack’s runtime: rows it writes get FTS and metadata only, no vec_* rows and no ANN participation. The opt-out covers pack-owned writes on the pack’s own backend; it does NOT cover core()-routed concept writes, which embed with the MAIN runtime’s embedders (the boot path wires them in via with_core_embedders_from) so the shared graph stays uniformly searchable. Fits packs whose own rows are structural rather than retrieval targets (e.g. comm). Effective in multi-backend boot, where each pack gets its own runtime. Defaults to false.
