Which part of the trading day a bar series covers.

Session-anchored indicators (VWAP anchors, opening-range pivots, …) need to know whether a series is cut to the regular session, includes extended hours, or is a continuous (e.g. 24h FX/crypto) feed — anchors and session extremes land in different places depending on this.

Variants

Regular

Regular trading hours only.

Extended

Includes pre-/post-market or overnight extensions.

Continuous

No session boundary at all (continuous trading, e.g. FX/crypto).
