Variants

None

No compression — data is stored as-is.

Lz4

LZ77-style sliding-window compressor (pure Rust, simplified).

Zstd

Zstandard-inspired: dispatches to RLE for level ≤ 3, LZ4-style for level ≥ 4.

Fields

Compression level (1 = fastest/worst, 22 = slowest/best).

Snappy

Snappy-inspired: same algorithm as Lz4.

Rle

Run-Length Encoding — pairs of (count, byte).
