A dispatcher for tests, which pump the application by hand: it never wakes the application, and work runs at once on the calling thread, so its result is there at the next checkpoint.

Sets when the host should next wake the application for a timer.

Asks the host to wake the application as soon as it can, because a task became ready to run.

fn dispatch(&self, work: Box<dyn FnOnce() + Send>)

Runs work off the main thread, on whatever the host has for that, such as a system queue or a worker thread. The framework’s run_in_background sends its work here.
