Table

An ordinary table.

View

A view.

Virtual

A virtual table.

Subquery

A nested query standing in for a table: a FROM subquery, a CTE reference, or an expanded view.

It is a kind rather than a flag because every question the binder asks of a table - has it a rowid, can it be written to, may an index be used on it - has the same answer for all three, and a kind makes the answer one match arm instead of three conditions that can drift apart.
