How to smooth an image when downsampling

For now, these all use a 3x3 kernel for smoothing. As a consequence, the Gaussian and Triangle smoothing types produce identical results

Variants (Non-exhaustive)

Non-exhaustive enums could have additional variants added in future. Therefore, when matching against variants of non-exhaustive enums, an extra wildcard arm must be added to account for any future variants.

Gaussian

Use a Gaussian filter [[1,2,1],[2,4,2],[1,2,1]] * 1/16

Box

Use a linear box filter [[1,1,1],[1,1,1],[1,1,1]] * 1/9

Triangle

Use a linear triangle filter: [[1,2,1],[2,4,2],[1,2,1]] * 1/16
