How much of a run one entry covers.

The two are a real trade rather than one being a refinement of the other, and which wins depends on where in the dependency graph the edit lands — see the Caching section of the README. PerModule is the default because editing is the common case.

Variants

PerModule

One entry per module. An edit costs the module, its dependents, and what those pull in; everything else replays.

WholeRun

One entry for the walk. Any edit anywhere re-checks everything, but a run where nothing moved reads one file instead of one per module.

pub fn parse(s: &str) -> Option<Self>

The mode a flag or an environment variable names, or None for a word this build does not know — which the caller reports as a bad argument rather than silently taking the default for.

pub fn as_str(self) -> &'static str

The word parse reads, and the one a run’s summary line prints. The two are one spelling on purpose, so what a report says can be pasted back as a flag.
