Granularity of a delete; preserved through undo so a linewise delete doesn’t come back as a charwise one.

Variants§

Char

Charwise — [start, end) byte range, possibly wrapping rows.

§

Line

Linewise — whole rows from start.row..=end.row. Endpoint columns are ignored.

§

Block

Blockwise — rectangle [start.row..=end.row] × [min_col..=max_col].
