pub enum BlockingMode {
External,
Polling,
Precise,
}Expand description
How should we handle syscalls which may block, but are internal to the hermit container? These syscalls are determinizable, but there are multiple methods of doing so. These choices do not apply to blocking syscalls that wait for external conditions outside the container, such as network responses.
Mostly it helps to switch this as: (1) a debugging aid to figure out what is going wrong with a given guest program, or (2) in order to find the more performant mode for a given guest program.
Variants§
External
Handle the internal blocking syscall as though it was external, and unblocks at an unpredictable nondeterministic time. These blocked threads will be parked in the scheduler’s BlockedPool.
(TODO: In the future these scheduling decisions will be recorded, and this comment needs to be updated accordingly.)
Polling
Transform each blocking syscall into non-blocking, and then the scheduler will use that non-blocking form to repeatedly poll for completion of the operation. When polling occurs (and the backoff policy there on) is decided by the scheduler. See NOTE [Blocking Syscalls via Internal Polling] in this folder.
Precise
Precisely model the blocking and unblocking behavior inside hermit. TODO: This work is not completed yet for all forms of blocking syscalls.

Source§fn fg(&self, value: Color) -> Painted<&T>
fn fg(&self, value: Color) -> Painted<&T>
Returns a styled value derived from self with the foreground set to
value.
This method should be used rarely. Instead, prefer to use color-specific
builder methods like red() and
green(), which have the same functionality but are
pithier.
§Example
Set foreground color to white using fg():

are pithier.
§Example

Source§fn attr(&self, value: Attribute) -> Painted<&T>
fn attr(&self, value: Attribute) -> Painted<&T>
Enables the styling Attribute value.
This method should be used rarely. Instead, prefer to use
attribute-specific builder methods like bold() and
underline(), which have the same functionality
but are pithier.
§Example
Make text bold using attr():
use yansi::{Paint, Attribute};

Source§fn quirk(&self, value: Quirk) -> Painted<&T>
fn quirk(&self, value: Quirk) -> Painted<&T>
Enables the yansi Quirk value.
This method should be used rarely. Instead, prefer to use quirk-specific
builder methods like mask() and
wrap(), which have the same functionality but are
pithier.
§Example
Enable wrapping using .quirk():
use yansi::{Paint, Quirk};
painted.quirk(Quirk::Wrap);Enable wrapping using wrap().
use yansi::Paint;
painted.wrap();Source§fn clear(&self) -> Painted<&T>
👎Deprecated since 1.0.1: renamed to resetting() due to conflicts with Vec::clear().
The clear() method will be removed in a future release.

The clear() method will be removed in a future release.
Source§fn whenever(&self, value: Condition) -> Painted<&T>
fn whenever(&self, value: Condition) -> Painted<&T>
Conditionally enable styling based on whether the Condition value
applies. Replaces any previous condition.
See the crate level docs for more details.
§Example
Enable styling painted only when both stdout and stderr are TTYs:

painted.red().on_yellow().whenever(Condition::STDOUTERR_ARE_TTY);Source§impl<T> Pipe for Twhere
