Expand description

El Torito boot-media emulation type (the low nibble of the boot media type byte, ECMA “El Torito” §2.x).

Variants§

§

NoEmulation

0x00 = No emulation. The firmware loads sector_count 512-byte sectors.

§

Floppy1_2

0x01 = 1.2 MB diskette emulation.

§

Floppy1_44

0x02 = 1.44 MB diskette emulation.

§

Floppy2_88

0x03 = 2.88 MB diskette emulation.

§

HardDisk

0x04 = Hard-disk emulation (drive 0x80).

§

Unknown(u8)

Any other (or flag-decorated) media type byte, preserved verbatim.

Implementations§

Source§

impl EmulationType

Source

pub fn from_u8(value: u8) -> Self

Performs the from_u8 operation.

Source

pub fn to_u8(self) -> u8

Performs the to_u8 operation.

Source

pub fn is_emulated(self) -> bool

Returns true for any emulated media (floppy or hard disk), i.e. not NoEmulation. Emulated entries load a single virtual boot sector; the firmware then services the emulated medium.

Only the media-type nibble (low 4 bits) is examined, matching the El Torito layout where the upper bits are flags (continuation, contains ATAPI driver). A flag-decorated byte whose low nibble is 0x0 — a no-emulation entry — is therefore correctly reported as not emulated.
