JobState

Enum JobState

Source
pub enum JobState {
    Queued,
    Running,
    Done,
    Failed,
}
Expand description

Where a job is. One enum for every kind, because all three status RPCs render the same four words and a per-kind copy of them was three chances to disagree about what Done means.

Variants§

§

Queued

Waiting its turn.

§

Running

The one job of this kind that is running.

§

Done

Finished; the kind’s report is the answer.

§

Failed

Finished badly; error says why.

Implementations§

Source§

impl JobState

Source

pub fn is_live(self) -> bool

Whether a new request for the same subject should join this job rather than start another.

A queued or running job is the answer to “do this to this subject” — a second request wants the same outcome and has nothing to add. A finished one is not: the caller is asking for something that has not happened since, and refusing them because a job ran an hour ago would be the queue deciding it knows better.
