Struct Machine

Source
pub struct Machine {
    pub cores: usize,
    pub nofile_soft: u64,
    pub mem_total: u64,
    pub mem_available: u64,
}
Expand description

The three facts a budget is derived from.

Taken as a value rather than read inside the derivation so the whole rule is a pure function of numbers a test can supply — including the boxes this one is not (2 GB, one core, a thousand descriptors).

Fields§

§cores: usize

CPUs this process may run on (std::thread::available_parallelism, which reads the affinity mask, so a taskset or a cpuset is honoured).

§nofile_soft: u64

The descriptor soft limit after limits::nofile raised it.

§mem_total: u64

MemTotal, bytes. 0 when /proc/meminfo could not be read.

§mem_available: u64

MemAvailable, bytes. 0 when /proc/meminfo could not be read.

Implementations§

Source§

impl Machine

Source

pub fn read(limit: Nofile) -> Machine

Read the box. Never fails: a missing /proc/meminfo leaves the memory terms at zero, and [derive] then simply does not apply them — a budget that refused to exist because one input was unreadable would be worse than one derived from the two that were.
