Variants

SaddleNode

dλ/dσ passed through zero: the Jacobian is singular. A fold.

LimitInduced

A generator hit its reactive limit and the tangent pointed downward in λ immediately afterwards. λ_max is the event itself, and the Jacobian is not singular there. A continuation that only watches for a smooth fold marches past this and reports a nonsense λ_max.
