How the whole state moves in response to one variable.

Both vectors are indexed by bus and are always full length. A bus whose quantity is not free carries zero — a slack bus’s angle does not move because it is the reference, and a PV bus’s magnitude does not move because its controller holds it. Those zeros are answers, not gaps.
