OwnershipHints

Struct OwnershipHints

Source
#[non_exhaustive]
pub struct OwnershipHints { pub explanation: Option<String>, pub query_package_database: bool, }
Expand description

What ownership may use beyond the install location.

Fields (Non-exhaustive)§

This struct is marked as non-exhaustive
Non-exhaustive structs could have additional fields added in future. Therefore, non-exhaustive structs cannot be constructed in external crates using the traditional Struct { .. } syntax; cannot be matched against without a wildcard ..; and struct update syntax will not work.
§explanation: Option<String>

How the packager says this build is updated. A distribution that builds the app sets it, and the app passes it on, for example from option_env!("MYAPP_UPDATE_EXPLANATION"), as Zed does with ZED_UPDATE_EXPLANATION. When set, ownership returns Ownership::Packager without looking further.

§query_package_database: bool

Ask the system package database (dpkg, rpm, pacman) who owns the app on Linux. Each query is limited to two seconds. Defaults to true.

Implementations§

Source§

impl OwnershipHints

Source

pub fn new() -> OwnershipHints

No packager explanation, and package database queries on.

Source

pub fn explanation<S>(self, explanation: Option<S>) -> OwnershipHints
where S: Into<String>,

Set the packager’s explanation. None or a blank text sets none, so option_env!(…) can be passed as it is.

Source

pub fn query_package_database(self, query: bool) -> OwnershipHints

Turn the Linux package database queries on or off.
