The reference treats this as one question with consequences rather than a bag of settings: a bar fixed to the bottom of the page and a bar floating above it differ in their corners, their padding and the room they keep clear, and they differ that way because of where they are.

Fixed to the bottom of the page: square corners, flush to the edges, its text held further in. The reference’s default (snack_bar.dart:986).

Floating

Floating above the page: rounded, held clear of the edges by its own margin, and drawn over everything rather than pushing anything up.
