Addresses one item inside a connection: which repository it lives in, plus the provider-native id.

repo is always connection-relative (acme/pay) — never host-qualified. It is None only when the caller genuinely has no repository to give; a provider whose scope holds a single repository resolves that case, and one with a wider scope rejects it rather than guessing.
