Which directory of an overlay root a failure names.

Every layer is the caller’s to place, and each must exist and be resolvable before the mount, so a failure preparing one has to say which it was. The rootfs is the overlay’s first lower and keeps its own RootfsUnusable reporting; Lower names the stacked layers beneath it.

Variants (Non-exhaustive)

Non-exhaustive enums could have additional variants added in future. Therefore, when matching against variants of non-exhaustive enums, an extra wildcard arm must be added to account for any future variants.

Lower

A lower layer stacked beneath the rootfs: read-only, contributing files the merge shows through.

Upper

The upper layer: where the sandbox’s writes land.

Work

The work directory the overlay uses for its own bookkeeping.
