pub enum LeftoverKind {
StagingTemporary,
OrphanedContent,
}Expand description
Which of fdu’s own files a leftover is.
Both are named by fdu and carry one of fdu’s magics, and both are reclaimed only by clearing the whole directory: a root’s clear reaches the one path that root’s snapshot occupies, and neither of these is at that path.
Variants§
StagingTemporary
The staging file a killed writer left beside its target, never renamed into place.
Removed only once it is older than the age at which a later writer would reap it, so clearing can never take a file a running writer still holds.
OrphanedContent
A content sidecar whose snapshot is gone.
Removed only when no snapshot for it exists after the clear, so a sidecar a later analyzed scan could still reuse stays with the snapshot it belongs to. Orphaned is what a listing shows: a sidecar whose snapshot is present is grouped with that snapshot and never listed on its own.
