TransportMode

Enum TransportMode

Source
pub enum TransportMode {
    Reference,
    Inline,
}
Expand description

How a plane’s bytes cross a boundary.

Both modes are first-class; the choice is the application’s, not the HAL’s. The HAL’s job is to make it expressible, which is why handle == -1 plus carried bytes is part of the format rather than a convention layered on top.

Variants§

§

Reference

Carry handles. Requires the same host and an IPC-capable storage kind. Export borrows: the handles are valid only while the source tensor lives.

§

Inline

Carry the bytes. Always available, and required for mem and pbo (which have no shareable handle) and for any storage kind travelling over a network, where an fd and a pid are meaningless.
