The membership status a node holds for one member. This is the SWIM-internal status; it is projected onto the engine-wide PeerState by SwimState::member_state.

Variants

Alive

The member is believed reachable.

Suspect

The member missed a probe (direct and indirect) and is under the suspicion timer. Carries the tick at which the suspicion began and the count of independent suspectors seen so far (the dogpile signal).

suspectors: u32

Number of independent suspectors observed (>= 1).

Dead

The member is confirmed dead. Terminal unless the member rejoins with a fresh incarnation.
