Why a claim did not yield a payment address. Every variant means the same thing to a caller — there is no payee here — and they differ only in what to log.

Variants

NotPresent

The entry carries no payment claim (the ordinary case for a peer predating SPEC §3.4).

Malformed

A field exceeded its cap, or spki / sig was not valid base64.

PeerIdMismatch

SHA-256(spki) did not equal the entry’s peer_id — the claim belongs to a different peer, or was substituted by a relay.

BadSignature

The key is the peer’s, but the signature does not cover this (peer_id, network_id, address) — a tampered address, or a claim replayed from another network.
