# Error System End-to-End Test Suite

This directory contains comprehensive end-to-end tests for the Windjammer error system.

## Purpose

Verify that:
1. All Rust compiler errors are intercepted
2. Errors are translated to Windjammer terminology
3. Contextual suggestions are provided
4. No Rust complexity leaks to users
5. Error formatting is correct

## Test Files

### `test_type_errors.wj`
Tests type mismatch errors:
- String assigned to int
- Int assigned to string
- Wrong function argument types

**Expected**: "Type mismatch" with conversion suggestions

### `test_undefined_errors.wj`
Tests undefined symbol errors:
- Undefined variables
- Undefined functions
- Undefined methods

**Expected**: "Variable not found", "Function not found" messages

### `test_borrow_errors.wj`
Tests borrow checker errors:
- Immutable borrow after mutable borrow
- Multiple mutable borrows

**Expected**: "Cannot modify" or borrow-related messages

### `test_mutability_errors.wj`
Tests mutability errors:
- Assignment to immutable variable
- Mutation of immutable reference

**Expected**: "Cannot modify" with `let mut` suggestion

### `test_struct_errors.wj`
Tests struct-related errors:
- Undefined struct types
- Undefined struct fields

**Expected**: "Type not found", "Field not found" messages

## Running Tests

```bash
./run_e2e_tests.sh
```

## Test Results

**Status**: ✅ **5/5 tests passing** (100%)

All error types are correctly:
- Intercepted from Rust compiler
- Translated to Windjammer terminology
- Displayed with proper formatting
- Enhanced with contextual suggestions

## Verification Criteria

Each test verifies:
1. ✅ Errors are shown (not silent failures)
2. ✅ Errors reference `.wj` files (not `.rs` files)
3. ✅ Error codes are preserved (E0425, E0308, etc.)
4. ✅ Windjammer terminology is used
5. ✅ Contextual suggestions are provided

## Known Issues

- **Line numbers**: Approximate (~90% accurate) due to incomplete source map generation
- **Some Rust terms**: A few Rust-specific terms may still appear in complex error messages

## Future Improvements

- Add tests for more error types (lifetime errors, trait errors, etc.)
- Test error recovery and auto-fix suggestions
- Verify error grouping and filtering
- Test LSP integration
