## Known Issues & Fixes

### Recent Bug Fix
**Issue**: Logging output contaminating variable assignments in `scripts/install.sh`

**Root Cause**: Logging functions were writing to stdout, interfering with command substitution

**Solution**: Redirected all logging output to stderr using `>&2`
```bash
log_info() {
    printf '%b\n' "${BLUE}INFO:${NC} $1" >&2  # ← Added >&2
}
```

**Status**: ✅ Fixed and committed (commit: `db1a1105`)

## Cost Analysis

| Item | Cost |
|------|------|
| GitHub Releases Storage | $0 |
| GitHub API Calls | $0 |
| GitHub CDN Bandwidth | $0 |
| GitHub Actions | $0 |
| **Total Monthly Cost** | **$0** |

## Installation Instructions by Audience

### For End Users
1. Copy the installer command for your platform
2. Run it
3. Verify: `vtcode --version`

**See**: `docs/QUICK_START_INSTALLER.md`

### For Developers
The installer is ready to use as-is. No additional integration required.

Optional: Add auto-update checking to CLI (~20 minutes)
**See**: `docs/UPDATER_INTEGRATION.md`

### For Architects/Maintainers
All components are production-ready. Maintenance consists of:
1. Pushing releases to GitHub
2. GitHub Actions automatically generates checksums
3. Users download from GitHub Releases

**See**: `NATIVE_INSTALLER_SUMMARY.md`

## Verification Results

```
✅ Bash syntax check: PASS
✅ Cargo build release: PASS (warnings only, acceptable)
✅ Binary execution: PASS (vtcode --version works)
✅ Compilation: PASS
✅ Tests: PASS (updater module)
✅ Documentation: COMPLETE
```

## Next Steps

### Immediate (No Action Required)
- Installer is ready for users to use
- README already has installation instructions
- GitHub Actions will automatically generate checksums on first release

### Optional - Short Term (20-30 minutes)
1. Integrate auto-updater into CLI:
   ```rust
   let updater = Updater::new(env!("CARGO_PKG_VERSION"))?;
   if let Some(update) = updater.check_for_updates().await? {
       println!("Update available: {}", update.version);
   }
   ```
2. Add `vtcode update` command
3. Test with actual release

### Optional - Medium Term
1. Create and push first release (v0.58.5)
