The decoder's nibble classification tables follow the scheme published by
Wojciech Muła and Daniel Lemire in their work on vectorised base64
("Faster Base64 Encoding and Decoding Using AVX2 Instructions", and the
accompanying base64simd reference code, BSD-2-Clause). The aarch64 block
structure follows Alfred Klomp's aklomp/base64 (BSD-2-Clause). No code from
either was copied; the tables here are re-derived and checked against the
alphabet by test.
The benchmark crate, which is not published, vendors
src/ballet/base64/fd_base64.c from Firedancer (Apache-2.0, Jump Crypto and
Firedancer Contributors) so that Firedancer's base64 can be measured as it is
actually compiled rather than paraphrased. It is built only by the benchmarks
and is not part of this crate.
