Tuning for FastCOVER training, the knobs of the reference’s ZDICT_fastCover_params_t.

The defaults are those zstd --train runs: d of 8, a table of 2^20 counts, a search over k in four steps, three quarters of the samples building and the rest scoring.

Fields

cover: CoverOptions

Segment size, dmer size, search, split and shrink, as for COVER. d is at least 4 here; the reference takes 6 and 8.

f: u32

Width of the dmer frequency table in bits, 1..=31; its memory grows as 2^f. Zero is 20.

accel: u32

Count every accel-th position, 1..=10, and draw the entropy tables from a matching share of the samples. Zero is 1.
