# Column Operations Refactoring - Complete

## Summary
Successfully refactored all 4 column operation methods in `enhanced_tui.rs` following the same pattern as the navigation methods simplification. This reduces code complexity and prepares the methods for trait extraction.

## Changes Made

### 1. New Structures Added
- **`ColumnOperationResult`** struct in `viewport_manager.rs` - Unified result type for all column operations
- **`apply_column_operation_result()`** helper in `enhanced_tui.rs` - Single point for state synchronization

### 2. Methods Refactored

All 4 methods now follow the ~8-line pattern:

#### Before (example: hide_current_column)
- **75 lines** of complex logic
- Direct ViewportManager manipulation
- Inline state updates
- Multiple nested conditions

#### After

## Results

### Code Reduction
- **Before**: ~200 lines across 4 methods
- **After**: ~50 lines (4 methods × ~12 lines + helper)
- **Reduction**: ~75% fewer lines

### Benefits Achieved
**Consistency** - All column operations follow same pattern
**Maintainability** - Single point for state updates
**Testability** - Clean result structures easy to test
**Trait Ready** - Minimal dependencies for extraction
**No Regressions** - All 198 tests still pass

   - `traits/yank.rs`

## Conclusion

The column operations refactoring is complete and follows the same successful pattern as the navigation simplification. The TUI is becoming more modular with clear separation of concerns, making it easier to maintain and extend while preserving all existing functionality.
