What the surface records about one public item — enough to detect any change to it (fingerprint), classify the change (signature), and audit coverage (kind, has_docs).

Fields

kind: String

Rustdoc item kind (function, struct, module, …).

fingerprint: u64

FNV-1a of the span source, comments stripped then whitespace-normalized.

signature: String

Declaration text, normalized: the span up to the first { or ;, except that a struct or union keeps its pub fields and an enum its variants, since those are what a consumer writes against.

has_docs: bool

Whether the item carries a /// doc comment.
