# Code of conduct

## Our commitment

We are committed to a welcoming, safe, and productive project for everyone, regardless of experience, identity, background, or ability. Participants must communicate with empathy, assume good intent while addressing real impact, and keep technical disagreement focused on evidence and tradeoffs.

## Expected behavior

- Be respectful, specific, and constructive.
- Welcome questions and explain project constraints without gatekeeping.
- Respect privacy. Never repost private reports, credentials, personal information, or private communications without permission.
- Accept responsibility, apologize when appropriate, and repair harm.
- Prioritize user safety, protocol correctness, and reproducible evidence over winning an argument.

Harassment, discrimination, threats, sexualized attention, deliberate intimidation, doxxing, sustained disruption, and retaliation are not tolerated. This applies in repository discussions, reviews, project communication, events, and when representing the project elsewhere.

## Enforcement

Report conduct concerns privately to the maintainers through GitHub's private vulnerability reporting channel when no separate private contact is available. Mark the report as a conduct concern; do not include unrelated confidential data. Maintainers will protect reporter privacy as far as practical, investigate consistently, and may edit or remove content, issue a warning, limit participation, or permanently ban a participant.

Maintainers must disclose conflicts of interest and recuse themselves when they are the subject of a report. Good-faith reports will not be punished. Knowingly false reports or retaliation are violations of this policy.

This policy is inspired by the [Contributor Covenant](https://www.contributor-covenant.org/version/2/1/code_of_conduct/).
