//! `rete` — build, inspect, and query Rete graph files.

// jemalloc, not the system allocator, on every non-MSVC target: see the note on
// the dependency in Cargo.toml. Measured on `rete export` of a 14.75 GiB file
// at `--memory-budget-mb 4096`, glibc malloc held ~2.8 GB of freed space on top
// of a ~4.3 GB live heap. The tuning below returns freed pages to the OS within

/// `--help` text for the INPUT half of `--quoted-triple-syntax`, shared by
/// `build` and `validate` so the two cannot drift apart.
///
/// It is long because the thing it describes is a trap: one piece of syntax,
/// two standards, two different graphs, and no way to tell from the bytes which
/// was meant.
const INPUT_QUOTED_TRIPLE_SYNTAX_HELP: &str = "\
Which surface a `<< … >>` in a **Turtle or TriG** input means. `rdf-star` (the \
default) or `rdf12` — the same two values `rete export --quoted-triple-syntax` \
writes, so one flag name covers both directions.

  rdf-star   `<< s p o >>` is a QUOTED TRIPLE, one term, in subject or object
             position. rete's own storage token. `<<( s p o )>>` is a syntax
             error.
  rdf12      `<<( s p o )>>` is a TRIPLE TERM (object position only).
             `<< s p o >>` is a REIFIER: it becomes
             `_:r rdf:reifies <<( s p o )>>` plus a statement about `_:r`, so
             one line of input becomes two statements with a blank node that
             was not written anywhere. `{| … |}` annotations and
             `\"…\"@lang--dir` literals are read too.

The SAME FILE parses into two DIFFERENT graphs under the two values. That is not
a rete quirk: RDF-star and RDF 1.2 genuinely assign `<< s p o >>` different
meanings, and nothing in the bytes says which one the author had in mind.

Why the default is `rdf-star` while `rete export`'s is `rdf12`: they answer
different questions. Export asks \"who can read this?\" — and the answer is
current parsers, which want RDF 1.2. Input asks \"what did the author mean?\",
where the two mistakes are not equal. Reading an RDF-star file as RDF 1.2
succeeds and gives you the wrong graph, silently. Reading an RDF 1.2 file as
RDF-star is a hard parse error, because `<<(` is RDF 1.2's alone — and rete adds
a hint naming this flag. Only one of those is recoverable, so the default is the
one that makes the other mistake loud.

The consequence to know: `rete export --format trig` writes `rdf12` by default,
so re-ingesting rete's own dump takes `--quoted-triple-syntax rdf12`. Exporting
with `--quoted-triple-syntax rdf-star` gives a dump that re-ingests with no flag
at all.

N-Triples, N-Quads and RDF/XML ignore this flag: their reader is rete's own, it
has taken both `<< s p o >>` and `<<( s p o )>>` since v0.3.2, and RDF 1.2
N-Triples has no reifier syntax for `<< … >>` to be — so there is no ambiguity
to resolve.";
