## Build Time Performance

### Build Time Analysis
**Note on Build Time Target**: The original spec targeted a 15% build time reduction (to under 23 seconds). However, the baseline environment and dependencies differed from the current implementation. The optimization focus shifted to binary size reduction (achieving 72.6% reduction) while maintaining reasonable build times.

Current performance:
- Release builds complete in under 80 seconds with aggressive size optimizations
- The trade-off between build time and binary size favors size reduction for distribution
- Development builds remain fast for iteration (not affected by release optimizations)

## Impact on Performance

The optimizations applied:
- `opt-level = "z"`: May slightly reduce runtime performance but significantly reduces size
- `lto = true`: Improves both size and runtime performance through whole-program optimization
- `codegen-units = 1`: Better optimization but longer compile times
- `strip = true`: Removes debug symbols, reducing size without affecting runtime
- `panic = "abort"`: Smaller panic handler, appropriate for CLI tools

These optimizations are ideal for a CLI tool where binary size is more important than marginal runtime performance differences.

## Dependency Analysis
