# ✅ Compilation Errors Fixed!
## Issues Found and Fixed
### Why These Errors Occurred
The core issue is **Rust's type system and array conversions**:
- `.as_slice()` returns `&[u8]` (a slice reference)
- We need `[u8; N]` (an owned array)
- Rust doesn't implement `TryFrom<&[u8]>` for large arrays automatically
- Solution: Use `copy_from_slice()` to explicitly copy the data
### 1. Missing File: `property_tests.rs` ✅ FIXED
**Problem**: File wasn't created in outputs directory
**Solution**: Created complete `property_tests.rs` with all property-based tests
### 2. Type Conversion Errors in `cross_validation.rs` ✅ FIXED
**Problem**: Can't convert `&[u8]` slice to `[u8; N]` array using `.try_into()`
**Root Cause**: `.as_slice()` returns a slice reference, not an owned array
**Solution**: Use `copy_from_slice()` to explicitly copy data:
```rust
// Before (broken):
let pk_array: [u8; ML_KEM_1024_PK_BYTES] = pk_bytes.as_slice()
.try_into()
.expect("PK length mismatch");
let pk_restored = KyberPublicKey::from(pk_array);
// After (fixed):
let pk_slice = keys.pk.as_slice();
let mut pk_array = [0u8; ML_KEM_1024_PK_BYTES];
pk_array.copy_from_slice(pk_slice);
let pk_restored = KyberPublicKey::from(pk_array);
```
### 3. Signature Conversion Error ✅ FIXED
**Problem**: Same issue - can't convert slice to array directly
**Solution**: Use `copy_from_slice()` pattern:
```rust
// Before (broken):
let sig_array: [u8; ML_DSA_65_SIG_BYTES] = sig_bytes.as_slice()
.try_into()
.expect("Sig length mismatch");
let sig_restored = DilithiumSignature::from(sig_array);
// After (fixed):
let sig_slice = sig.as_slice();
let mut sig_array = [0u8; ML_DSA_65_SIG_BYTES];
sig_array.copy_from_slice(sig_slice);
let sig_restored = DilithiumSignature::from(sig_array);
```

## Troubleshooting
### If you still get compilation errors:
1. **Make sure files are in the right place:**
```bash
ls -la tests/
```
2. **Check Cargo.toml has the test configs:**
```toml
[[test]]
name = "property_tests"
path = "tests/property_tests.rs"
required-features = ["std", "ml-kem", "ml-dsa"]
[[test]]
name = "cross_validation"
path = "tests/cross_validation.rs"
required-features = ["std", "ml-kem", "ml-dsa"]
```
3. **Make sure dev-dependencies are correct:**
```toml
[dev-dependencies]
hex = "0.4"
criterion = "0.5"
proptest = "1.4"
sha3 = "0.10"
```
4. **Run cargo clean:**
```bash
cargo clean
cargo test --features "std,ml-kem,ml-dsa"
```
