# AAS Parser - Asset Administration Shell to SAMM Converter

This module provides complete parsing and conversion of AAS (Asset Administration Shell) files to SAMM (Semantic Aspect Meta Model) Aspect Models.

## Overview

The AAS parser enables seamless integration between Industry 4.0 digital twins (AAS) and semantic data models (SAMM), providing a bridge between these two important standards.

## Supported Formats

- **XML** - AAS XML format (aas:environment)
- **JSON** - AAS JSON format (standard Industry 4.0 format)
- **AASX** - AAS Package format (ZIP container with XML/JSON content)

## Features

### Complete AAS Support
- ✅ AssetAdministrationShell parsing
- ✅ Submodel extraction
- ✅ Property conversion (with type mapping)
- ✅ Operation conversion
- ✅ SubmodelElementCollection to Entity mapping
- ✅ Multi-language descriptions (LangString support)
- ✅ Semantic references and IDs

### Type Mapping

The parser automatically maps AAS data types to XSD types used in SAMM:

| AAS Type | SAMM/XSD Type |
|----------|---------------|
| `xs:string` | `xsd:string` |
| `xs:int` | `xsd:int` |
| `xs:float` | `xsd:float` |
| `xs:boolean` | `xsd:boolean` |
| `xs:dateTime` | `xsd:dateTime` |
| `xs:date` | `xsd:date` |
| `xs:time` | `xsd:time` |

### URN Generation

The parser generates SAMM-compliant URNs with proper `#` separators:

- **Aspects**: `urn:aas:submodel:{id}#{name}`
- **Properties**: `urn:aas:property#{idShort}`
- **Operations**: `urn:aas:operation#{idShort}`
- **Characteristics**: `urn:aas:characteristic#{name}Characteristic`
- **Entities**: `urn:aas:entity#{idShort}`

## Usage

### Programmatic API

```rust
use oxirs_samm::aas_parser;
// Parse an AAS file
let env = aas_parser::parse_aas_file("AssetAdminShell.aasx").await?;
// List submodels
let submodels = aas_parser::list_submodels(&env);
for (idx, id, name, description) in submodels {
    println!("[{}] {} - {}", idx, name.unwrap_or(&id), id);
}
// Convert to SAMM Aspect Models
let aspects = aas_parser::convert_to_aspects(&env, vec![])?;
// Convert specific submodels by index
let selected_aspects = aas_parser::convert_to_aspects(&env, vec![0, 2])?;
```

### CLI Usage

```bash
# List all submodel templates
oxirs aas AssetAdminShell.aasx list
# Convert all submodels to SAMM Aspect Models (generates .ttl files)
oxirs aas AssetAdminShell.aasx to aspect -d output/
# Convert specific submodels by index
oxirs aas AssetAdminShell.json to aspect -s 0 -s 2 -d aspects/
# Works with all formats
oxirs aas file.xml to aspect        # XML
oxirs aas file.json to aspect       # JSON
oxirs aas file.aasx to aspect       # AASX (default)
```

## Architecture

### Module Structure

```
├── mod.rs              # Public API and format detection
├── models.rs           # AAS data structures (serde-based)
├── xml.rs             # XML parser (quick-xml)
├── json.rs            # JSON parser (serde_json)
```

### Data Flow

```
1. AAS File (XML/JSON/AASX)
   2. Format Detection (by extension)
   3. Parse to AasEnvironment
   4. Extract Submodels
   5. Convert to SAMM Aspects
   6. Serialize to Turtle (.ttl)
```

## Conversion Details

### Submodel → Aspect

Each AAS Submodel becomes a SAMM Aspect:

```turtle
<urn:aas:submodel:movement:1#Movement> a samm:Aspect ;
  samm:preferredName "Movement"@en ;
  samm:description "Movement tracking submodel"@en ;
  samm:properties (...) ;
  samm:operations (...) .
```

### Property → Property

AAS Properties become SAMM Properties with Characteristics:

```turtle
<urn:aas:property#speed> a samm:Property ;
  samm:preferredName "speed"@en ;
  samm:description "Current speed in km/h"@en ;
  samm:characteristic <urn:aas:characteristic#speedCharacteristic> .
<urn:aas:characteristic#speedCharacteristic> a samm-c:Trait ;
  samm:dataType <xsd:float> .
```

### Operation → Operation

AAS Operations become SAMM Operations:

```turtle
<urn:aas:operation#scheduleMaintenance> a samm:Operation ;
  samm:preferredName "scheduleMaintenance"@en ;
  samm:description "Schedule maintenance"@en ;
  samm:input (...) ;
  samm:output (...) .
```

### SubmodelElementCollection → Entity

AAS SubmodelElementCollections become SAMM Entities:

```turtle
<urn:aas:entity#MaintenanceRecord> a samm:Entity ;
  samm:preferredName "MaintenanceRecord"@en ;
  samm:properties (...) .
```

## Examples

### Example 1: Parse and List

```rust
use oxirs_samm::aas_parser;
async fn list_submodels(file: &str) -> Result<()> {
    // Parse AAS file
    let env = aas_parser::parse_aas_file(file).await?;
    // List submodels
    let submodels = aas_parser::list_submodels(&env);
    println!("Found {} submodel(s):", submodels.len());
    for (idx, id, name, desc) in submodels {
        println!("  [{}] {}", idx, name.unwrap_or(&id));
        println!("      ID: {}", id);
        if let Some(d) = desc {
            println!("      Description: {}", d);
        }
    }
    Ok(())
}
```

### Example 2: Convert to SAMM

```rust
use oxirs_samm::aas_parser;
use oxirs_samm::serializer;
async fn convert_aas_to_samm(
    input: &str,
    output_dir: &str,
) -> Result<()> {
    // Parse AAS file
    let env = aas_parser::parse_aas_file(input).await?;
    // Convert all submodels to SAMM Aspects
    let aspects = aas_parser::convert_to_aspects(&env, vec![])?;
    // Serialize each aspect to Turtle
    for aspect in aspects {
        let filename = format!("{}/{}.ttl", output_dir, aspect.name());
        serializer::serialize_aspect_to_file(&aspect, &filename).await?;
        println!("Generated: {}", filename);
    }
    Ok(())
}
```

### Example 3: Selective Conversion

```rust
use oxirs_samm::aas_parser;
async fn convert_specific_submodels(
    file: &str,
    indices: Vec<usize>,
) -> Result<()> {
    // Parse AAS file
    let env = aas_parser::parse_aas_file(file).await?;
    // Convert only specified submodels
    let aspects = aas_parser::convert_to_aspects(&env, indices)?;
    println!("Converted {} Aspect Model(s)", aspects.len());
    for aspect in aspects {
        println!("  - {} ({})", aspect.name(), aspect.metadata().urn);
    }
    Ok(())
}
```

## Error Handling

The parser provides detailed error messages:

```rust
// File not found
Err(ParseError("Failed to read JSON file: No such file or directory"))
// Invalid format
Err(ParseError("Unsupported AAS file format: .txt\nSupported formats: .xml, .json, .aasx"))
// Index out of range
Err(ParseError("Submodel index 5 out of range (only 2 submodels available)"))
// No content found in AASX
Err(ParseError("No AAS content found in AASX package. Expected 'aasx/xml/content.xml' or 'aasx/json/content.json'"))
```

## Testing

The module includes comprehensive unit tests:

```bash
# Run all AAS parser tests
cargo test -p oxirs-samm aas_parser
# Test specific modules
cargo test -p oxirs-samm aas_parser::json      # JSON parser tests
cargo test -p oxirs-samm aas_parser::aasx      # AASX parser tests
cargo test -p oxirs-samm aas_parser::converter # Converter tests
```
