# Code of Conduct
## Our pledge
We want OpenCrabs to be a place where anyone can contribute good work and be
judged on that work. We pledge to make participation harassment-free for
everyone, regardless of age, body size, visible or invisible disability,
ethnicity, sex characteristics, gender identity and expression, level of
experience, education, socio-economic status, nationality, personal
appearance, race, caste, colour, religion, or sexual identity and orientation.
This applies in the repository, in issues and pull requests, in project chat
channels, and anywhere someone is representing the project in public.
## Standards
Behaviour that helps this project:
- Technical honesty. Report what you measured, name what you did not verify,
and correct yourself when you are wrong.
- Direct criticism of code, designs, and claims. Say why something is wrong
and what would make it right.
- Respect for the reader's time. Small diffs, clear reproduction steps, no
padding.
- Patience with people who are learning. A question asked in good faith is not
a burden.
Behaviour that does not belong here:
- Insults, personal attacks, or dismissiveness aimed at a person rather than at
their work.
- Harassment of any kind, public or private, including unwanted attention and
sustained disruption of a discussion.
- Sexualised language or imagery, and unwelcome sexual attention.
- Discriminatory jokes or comments, however framed.
- Publishing someone's private information without their explicit permission.
- Using the project's spaces to promote unrelated products or services.
Roasting a bad idea is fine and this project does it constantly. Roasting the
person who had it is not.
## Maintainer responsibilities
Maintainers set the standard and are expected to model it. They may edit,
remove, or reject comments, commits, code, issues, and pull requests that do
not meet it, and will explain the reason when they do.
Maintainers who do not follow this code in good faith face the same
consequences as anyone else.
## Scope
This code applies in all project spaces, and when an individual is officially
representing the project elsewhere. It does not apply to private conversations
that have nothing to do with the project.
## Reporting
Report unacceptable behaviour to the maintainer at
**adolfousier@gmail.com**. Include what happened, where, when, and links or
screenshots if you have them. Reports are read by the maintainer and kept
confidential.
If the report concerns the maintainer, say so in the message and it will be
handled by a second reviewer.
Do not open a public issue to report a conduct problem, and do not discuss it
in the project's chat channels before it has been handled.
## Enforcement
The maintainer will review the report, speak to the people involved where that
is useful, and decide on a response proportionate to the behaviour:
1. **Correction.** A private note explaining what was wrong and why, with the
expectation that it stops. A public apology may be asked for.
2. **Warning.** A formal warning with consequences for continued behaviour,
including a defined period of no interaction with the people involved.
3. **Temporary ban.** A defined period with no interaction or contribution to
the project.
4. **Permanent ban.** Removal from the project's spaces for repeated or severe
violations.
The maintainer may skip steps for severe behaviour. Decisions are recorded
privately, and the reporter is told the outcome.
