## What Was Done

The `fix_reconnect` branch contains a complete implementation of graph-based cycle detection and endpoint merging that processes raw offset arc splits into clean, properly connected output cycles.

### Phase 2: Endpoint Merging (`src/graph/merge_ends.rs`)

**Module Purpose**: Fix numerical precision issues by clustering and merging close endpoints.

**Key Features**:
- **Agglomerative Clustering**: Groups endpoints within tolerance (1e-8)
- **Centroid Merging**: Merges all endpoints in a group to their centroid
- **Small Arc Elimination**: Removes invalid arcs created by merging
- **Geometric Validation**: Ensures consistency with `arc.make_consistent()`

At each vertex with multiple exit options, choose the edge with the **smallest right-turn angle**.

### Algorithm 1: Agglomerative Endpoint Clustering

**Purpose**: Group endpoints within tolerance distance.

**Process**:
1. Start with ungrouped endpoints
2. For each endpoint, find all nearby points (within tolerance)
3. Grow cluster by transitively including nearby points
4. Repeat until no more additions
5. Calculate centroid of each group

**Time**: O(n²) in worst case (all points in one group)
**Space**: O(n) for groups

### Algorithm 2: "Most Close on the Right" Cycle Finding

**Purpose**: Extract cycles that don't self-intersect geometrically.

**Key Insight**: At any vertex with multiple edges, always choose the edge that turns most "to the right" (smallest right-turn angle). This ensures smooth, non-intersecting paths.

**Process**:
1. Build graph from arcs (vertices + edges)
2. For each unused edge:
   - Start cycle traversal
   - At each vertex, calculate turn angles to all available edges
   - Choose edge with smallest positive angle (most "straight ahead" to the right)
   - If no positive angle, choose largest negative (least left turn)
   - Continue until cycle closes
3. Mark cycle edges as used
4. Repeat for remaining edges

**Time**: O(n·d) where n = edges, d = avg degree
**Space**: O(n) for graph structure

- Many endpoints very close but not exactly connected (numerical error)
- No clear structure - hard to identify individual offset paths

**Phase 2 (Merge)**: Fix numerical precision
- Cluster endpoints within tolerance
- Snap to common locations
- Clean up invalid arcs
- Now we have truly connected arcs

**Phase 3 (Detect)**: Extract valid cycles
- Build graph structure
- Use geometric-aware traversal
- "Rightmost-turn" rule prevents intersections
- Each cycle is a valid, separate offset path
