pub struct VersionToken(/* private fields */);Expand description
An opaque marker for “how much of this document I have already seen”.
Callers treat it as bytes: store it, hand it back, compare it for equality. Its interior is the engine’s version vector, which is exactly the kind of detail that must not leak into a wire format or an FFI signature, because pinning it would pin the engine.
Implementations§
Source§impl VersionToken
impl VersionToken
Sourcepub fn from_bytes(bytes: impl Into<Vec<u8>>) -> Self
pub fn from_bytes(bytes: impl Into<Vec<u8>>) -> Self
Rebuild a token from bytes produced by VersionToken::as_bytes.
Sourcepub fn includes(&self, other: &VersionToken) -> DataResult<bool>
pub fn includes(&self, other: &VersionToken) -> DataResult<bool>
Whether this version covers every change other names.
The question a deletion floor asks. A document removed at version
T is removed along with everything at or below T, and anything a
peer offers or sends from below it is content that removal already
covered. What sits beyond T is an edit made concurrently with
the removal or after it, which is content the removal never saw and
therefore never decided about.
Both tokens are decoded, so a caller holding bytes that came off a wire gets an error rather than a wrong answer. Equality is not enough for this question and neither is byte comparison: two encodings of one version need not be identical, and a version that merely overlaps another is neither below it nor beyond it.
Sourcepub fn union(&self, other: &VersionToken) -> DataResult<VersionToken>
pub fn union(&self, other: &VersionToken) -> DataResult<VersionToken>
The version covering everything either token covers.
Two replicas that removed the same document independently each hold a floor the other does not, and neither is wrong. Merging them keeps both removals, which is what makes the floors converge rather than depend on which offer arrived first.
Sourcepub fn validate(&self) -> DataResult<()>
pub fn validate(&self) -> DataResult<()>
Whether these bytes decode as a version at all.
A removal floor arrives off a wire and is then stored for the life of its space, so it is checked once on the way in rather than failing every question later asked of it. Bytes that do not decode are not a version of anything, and a floor made of them would cover nothing while still costing a record.

Source§fn fg(&self, value: Color) -> Painted<&T>
fn fg(&self, value: Color) -> Painted<&T>
Returns a styled value derived from self with the foreground set to
value.
This method should be used rarely. Instead, prefer to use color-specific
builder methods like red() and
green(), which have the same functionality but are
pithier.
§Example
Set foreground color to white using fg():
use yansi::{Paint, Color};
painted.fg(Color::White);Set foreground color to white using white().

builder methods like on_red() and
on_green(), which have the same functionality but
are pithier.
§Example
Set background color to red using fg():
use yansi::{Paint, Color};

fn attr(&self, value: Attribute) -> Painted<&T>
Enables the styling Attribute value.
This method should be used rarely. Instead, prefer to use
attribute-specific builder methods like bold() and
underline(), which have the same functionality
but are pithier.
§Example
Make text bold using attr():
use yansi::{Paint, Attribute};
painted.attr(Attribute::Bold);Make text bold using using bold().

Source§fn quirk(&self, value: Quirk) -> Painted<&T>
fn quirk(&self, value: Quirk) -> Painted<&T>
Enables the yansi Quirk value.
This method should be used rarely. Instead, prefer to use quirk-specific
builder methods like mask() and
wrap(), which have the same functionality but are
pithier.
§Example
Enable wrapping using .quirk():
use yansi::{Paint, Quirk};
painted.quirk(Quirk::Wrap);Enable wrapping using wrap().
use yansi::Paint;
painted.wrap();Source§fn clear(&self) -> Painted<&T>
👎Deprecated since 1.0.1: renamed to resetting() due to conflicts with Vec::clear().
The clear() method will be removed in a future release.
fn clear(&self) -> Painted<&T>
renamed to resetting() due to conflicts with Vec::clear().
The clear() method will be removed in a future release.
Source§fn whenever(&self, value: Condition) -> Painted<&T>
fn whenever(&self, value: Condition) -> Painted<&T>
Conditionally enable styling based on whether the Condition value
applies. Replaces any previous condition.
See the crate level docs for more details.
§Example
Enable styling painted only when both stdout and stderr are TTYs:
use yansi::{Paint, Condition};
painted.red().on_yellow().whenever(Condition::STDOUTERR_ARE_TTY);
