# PRP: Create Export Module Structure
## Objective
Establish the foundational module structure for all export functionality, providing a clean API for users to export data in various formats.
## Context
Before implementing specific export formats (CSV, JSON, CouchDB, PNG), we need a well-organized module structure. This PRP creates the export module hierarchy and common traits that all exporters will implement.
## Success Criteria
- Clean module organization under src/export/
- Common traits for all exporters
- Error types for export operations
- Public API in lib.rs
- All submodules properly connected
- Documentation for export module
## Implementation Tasks
1. Create src/export/ directory
2. Create src/export/mod.rs as module root
3. Define ExportError enum for error handling
4. Create Exporter trait with common methods
5. Define ExportFormat enum
6. Create ExportOptions struct
7. Add export module to lib.rs
8. Write module-level documentation
## Module Structure
```
src/
export/
mod.rs # Public API and traits
error.rs # Export error types
csv.rs # CSV implementation (PRP-12)
json.rs # JSON implementation (PRP-13)
couchdb.rs # CouchDB implementation (PRP-14)
chart.rs # PNG charts (PRP-15)
```
## Trait Design
The Exporter trait should define:
- export_ohlc method
- export_ticks method
- export_to_file method
- export_to_writer method
## Validation Gates
```bash
# Build library with new module
cargo build --lib
# Check documentation
cargo doc --no-deps
# Verify module structure
cargo test export::tests
```
## Notes
- This PRP must be completed before specific export implementations
- Use Result<T, ExportError> for all export operations
- Consider async trait for future streaming exports
- Make each export format an optional feature
- Provide sensible defaults for all options
## Dependencies
None - this is pure module structure
