# gRPC Integration Tests - README
## Overview
This directory contains comprehensive integration tests for the LLM-Memory-Graph gRPC service implementation.
**Test File:** `grpc_integration_test.rs.disabled`
**Total Tests:** 40 comprehensive integration tests
**Status:** Ready for execution once prerequisites are met
## Why is the file `.disabled`?
The test file is currently disabled because it requires:
1. **protoc (Protocol Buffer Compiler)** - Not yet installed in the environment
2. **Compiled protobuf definitions** - Generated during build when protoc is available
This is intentional to prevent build failures in environments without the prerequisites.
## Enabling the Tests
### Step 1: Install Prerequisites

# Ubuntu/Debian
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install -y protobuf-compiler
# macOS
brew install protobuf
# Verify installation
protoc --version
```
### Step 2: Enable the Test File
```bash
# Rename the file to enable it
mv tests/grpc_integration_test.rs.disabled tests/grpc_integration_test.rs
```
### Step 3: Run the Tests

# Run specific test

## Test Infrastructure
### TestServer Helper
Provides isolated test environment for each test:

## Troubleshooting
### Issue: "protoc not found"
**Solution:**
```bash
# Install protoc
sudo apt-get install protobuf-compiler # Ubuntu/Debian
brew install protobuf # macOS
```
### Issue: "no test target named grpc_integration_test"
**Solution:**
```bash
# Rename the disabled file
mv tests/grpc_integration_test.rs.disabled tests/grpc_integration_test.rs
# Rebuild
cargo build
```
### Issue: Build errors with proto files
**Solution:**
```bash
# Clean and rebuild
cargo clean
cargo build
# Verify protoc is accessible

```
### Issue: Tests fail with timeout
**Solution:**
- Increase timeout in test configuration
- Run tests with fewer threads: `--test-threads=1`
- Check system resources
## Performance Expectations
- **Health Check:** < 100ms
- **Session Creation:** < 500ms
- **Prompt Addition:** < 200ms
- **Response Addition:** < 200ms
- **Node Retrieval:** < 100ms
- **Batch Operations:** Faster than individual operations
