Provenance
------------------------------------------------------------------------

libsvm-rs is a Rust port and reimplementation of LIBSVM, a library for
support vector machines originally created and maintained by:

    Chih-Chung Chang and Chih-Jen Lin
Department of Computer Science, National Taiwan University
    https://www.csie.ntu.edu.tw/~cjlin/libsvm

The Rust implementation targets numerical equivalence and file-format
compatibility with upstream LIBSVM; it is not a bitwise-identical copy.

The SVM algorithms, file formats, and reference behavior derive from
LIBSVM, which is distributed under the BSD 3-Clause License. The original
copyright of Chih-Chung Chang and Chih-Jen Lin is retained and is not
superseded by the Rust port's copyright.

Vendored upstream
------------------------------------------------------------------------

This repository redistributes the original LIBSVM source verbatim under
vendor/libsvm/ for differential testing and reference purposes:

    Upstream: https://github.com/cjlin1/libsvm
    Version: v337 (LIBSVM_VERSION 337)
    Commit: 6b907139084abf2da4d6d3cb10dc3b7eaffa2fbb (tag v337)

The upstream BSD 3-Clause license text is retained verbatim at
vendor/libsvm/COPYRIGHT.

Datasets
------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sample datasets under data/ and vendor/libsvm/ (heart_scale, iris.scale,
housing_scale and derivatives) are distributed with or scaled from the
LIBSVM datasets collection
(https://www.csie.ntu.edu.tw/~cjlin/libsvmtools/datasets/) and originate
from public-domain / UCI Machine Learning Repository sources.
