# KtoolDocs consumer contract

The crate exposes `ktool_docs(arguments)` and `is_known_ktool(name)`. `ktool_docs` accepts exactly one nonempty string field, `name`, and returns compact JSON containing `name`, `latest_version`, `docs`, `deprecated`, and `replacement`. Matching is exact and case-sensitive. Malformed arguments return `invalid KtoolDocs arguments`; unknown names return `unknown Ktool`.

All 30 active catalog entries remain version `1.0.0`. `GetLaunchNode` accepts an exact user or group authority ID plus an exact target name, authorizes both the launch binding and referenced Kmap node, and returns the visible Access ID without loading or mutating the node. RustCode exposes Create, Docs, Open, Overwrite, Check, Publish, and Build.

WebCode exposes Create, Docs, Open, Overwrite, CreateFile, RenameFile, DeleteFile, Check, and Publish. Backend-selected Profile authority is never a model argument. WebCode drafts contain arbitrary complete byte trees beneath safe slash-relative paths. Create authors exactly `Documentation.md` plus `index.js`, `index.html`, or `index.css`. Create and Open emit every authored file once in lexicographic path order, one complete Named Tool Message titled `File: <path>` per file; this revision performs no chunking. UTF-8 files expose exact text. Non-UTF-8 files expose exactly `this file is a non-text object and cannot be modified`; they cannot be overwritten, but may be renamed or deleted. CreateFile adds UTF-8 text. Check and Publish validate the complete projected tree. Model-facing errors, including check diagnostics, are bounded to 256 KiB.

RustCode Build accepts only a logical library and exact published stable version, derives the binary target from the logical library name, produces an optimized locked release build in the disposable authority-scoped code cache, and does not create an Object, publish a binary, deploy, restart, or execute it.

The lookup is compiled metadata only. It does not list, search, suggest, authorize, register, inspect state, perform I/O, or prove that a named tool is live.
