## Project Overview
**Kandil Code** is an intelligent development platform (CLI + TUI + Multi-Agent System) built in Rust, designed to transform ideas into integrated software projects. It supports multi-language projects, AI integration, requirements engineering, code generation, testing, deployment, and professional role simulations.

### Key Principles
- **Agile-Inspired**: Weekly sprints, iterative testing, feature flags
- **Tech Stack**: Rust, Tokio, Clap, Ratatui, Reqwest, Candle, Serde
- **Architecture**: Hexagonal (Ports & Adapters) with plugin system
- **Timeline**: 6-8 months (revised from 4-6 months for realism)
- **Budget**: $200-300 (cloud API costs)

### Milestones
- **v0.1 MVP** (End Phase 5): Basic CLI + AI + Templates
- **v1.0** (End Phase 8): Full agents + pipeline
- **v2.0** (End Phase 12): Simulations + advanced features

### Resources Needed
- **Hardware**: 16GB RAM laptop (for local AI)
- **Software**: Rust 1.75+, Git, VS Code, Ollama, Docker
- **API Keys**: Claude, Qwen, OpenAI (free tiers)
- **Cloud**: Supabase (free tier)

### Workflow
- Git feature branches (`feature/phase1-cli`)
- CI/CD: GitHub Actions (fmt, clippy, audit, tarpaulin)
- Documentation: README per phase, `cargo doc`
- Tracking: GitHub Projects

### Security Baseline (NEW)
- **No hardcoded secrets**: Use OS keyring + environment variables
- **Pre-commit hooks**: Secret scanning, fmt, clippy
- **Dependency management**: Dependabot weekly updates
- **Audit**: `cargo audit` in CI pipeline

### Success Metrics
- **Technical**: 95% test coverage, <2s response time
- **Adoption**: 500+ GitHub stars in 3 months
- **Quality**: Bug rate <5%, NPS >7/10

## Risks & Assumptions
- Assumes availability of free-tier AI APIs and stable Rust toolchain.
- Risk of provider rate limits; mitigated by caching and multi-provider fallback.
- Security risks from secret handling; mitigated by keyring integration and audits.
- Scope creep across phases; mitigated by phase gates and change control.

## Dependencies
- Phase sequencing: Each phase depends on the previous being ‘feature-complete’.
- External services: Supabase, AI providers (Claude, Qwen, OpenAI), optional Ollama.
- Tooling: GitHub Actions, Docker, local runtime support (Tokio, Ratatui).

## Next Steps
1. Read Phase 0 thoroughly
2. Execute setup commands sequentially
3. Commit daily, push to GitHub
4. Reference individual phase files for implementation details

For detailed implementation, see PHASE_X.md files.
