# Production Readiness Status


This document tracks the completion status of the Gun.rs port for production deployment.

## ✅ Completed (Production Ready)

## Current Status: ~70% Production Ready

**What Works Now:**
- ✅ Core database operations (get, put, set, map)
- ✅ Local graph storage and retrieval
- ✅ Event system for local updates
- ✅ Persistent storage (sled)
- ✅ Configuration and initialization

**What's Missing for Production:**
- ⚠️ WebSocket networking (can't sync with other peers yet)
- ⚠️ SEA security module (no encryption/auth)
- ⚠️ Comprehensive testing
- ⚠️ Network error handling and reconnection

## Recommended Next Steps


1. **Complete WebSocket Integration** (1-2 days)
   - Connect DAM to WebSocket
   - Test peer communication
   - Add reconnection logic

## Deployment Considerations

1. **No Network Sync** - Works locally only until WebSocket is wired up
2. **No Security** - No encryption/authentication until SEA is implemented

## Migration from Gun.js


The API is designed to match Gun.js closely, so migration should be straightforward once networking is complete. Key differences:

1. **Async/Await** - Rust uses async/await instead of callbacks (but callbacks still work for events)
2. **Type Safety** - Rust's type system provides compile-time safety
3. **Error Handling** - Result types instead of exceptions

## Conclusion


The core functionality is solid and production-ready for local use. The remaining work is primarily networking and security, which are critical for decentralized applications but can be added incrementally.

**Recommendation:** Complete WebSocket integration first to enable peer communication, then add SEA for security. With those two pieces, the library will be production-ready for most use cases.
