gled 2.32.1

gled is an application for creating animations and effects on artnet or dmx installations
# Setting up an installation (old format)

Installations are patched in the patch editor now (`Project` →
`Patch Fixtures`). This page describes how an installation was drawn as an SVG
file before, so an old project's drawing can be read; gled converts it when it
starts, see [Old lamps and
projects](../fixture-definitions.md#old-lamps-and-projects).

## SVG File

1. Take a picture of your installation and open it in Inkscape.

2. Include, clone and place your lamps in the right position, set the start addresses and universes of your lamps. We used far away universes for the lamps, so there was no overlap when a set of connected lamps had more than 170 LEDs.

3. Remove the picture and set the SVG window to your needs. We normally chose a midpoint which fits the installation best.

4. The SVG file was imported into a GLED project. Now the project gets a patch derived from the file when gled starts: every lamp of the drawing becomes a fixture where the drawing had it, and lamps numbered one after the other in a universe form a chain.

## Output Routing

A converted project keeps its output routings; the conversion renumbers the
universes of the drawing where they have to move, and the routings follow.
To set them up from scratch:

1. Go to `Project` -> `Output Routings`.
2. Find the correct output universe for each gled universe:
  * Our strategy is to set the first lamp to each output universe until we see some lights flashing up.
  * Now we know the output universe of these lights.
  * We look up the lamp's universe in the patch editor and set that gled universe to the output universe.
  * Repeat until all output universes are correctly set up.
